“I can’t do that,” a friend of mine said to me recently. “I know my limitations.”
I’ve heard that phrase many times. “I know my limitations.”
But my question to anyone who has uttered those four words is this: why do you know your limitations?
Do you know your limitations because you put them there? Did you hand pick the bricks to build up the walls you’ve put around your life?
Or, do you know your limitations because you’ve been to them? Because you’ve tested them and pushed them?
Do you know your limitations because you’ve tried over and over to beat them? Or do you know your limitations because you limit yourself?
We all have limits. And it’s not always bad to set limits for ourselves.
But we need to realize why we know our limitations before we say, “I can’t.”

I’m sorry that happened to you. :( I hope you can find rest and healing.

Because I met them, said, “I can’t do this anymore” and was forced to keep going and I broke. I actually do know my limitations because I crossed them. Now I’m trying to heal and don’t know how and it’s sad.

The obvious is oft the most obscure. But once it is pointed out to us, BAM! right in the face, and it was there all along. You have a knack for seeing that which is hidden in plain sight.

Very good thoughts. I hadn’t thought about it that way, but it’s true. So many of us think there’s no point in trying because we “know our limitations.” We need to make sure that our limitations aren’t self-imposed just so we have an excuse to be lazy and not try.

*hugs*
I think Fear is the biggest limitation for a lot of people. We’re afraid of finding out exactly what we are…and are not….capable of.
I’m there right now. It’s hard to fight, but I’m trying! :D
